Continuing the global experience

I enjoyed the two years of the trainee program immensely; they were fulfilling and challenging in professional and personal levels. I did the Commercial track, I started on a sales team in Guadalajara, Mexico and experienced the life and challenges of sales functions and away from our regional offices.

Then, I worked on a tactical project for Mexico to set-up the process to coordinate all functional departments to provide special services (i.e. dedicated transport, mobile Hilti Stores, etc)  to big customers or jobsites (e.g. power plants, offshore, etc). For the regional project, I worked on a strategic project to define central-regional services across for Marketing, Logistics, Aftermarket services and HR. Finally, for the international project I worked in the global HQ at Schaan for a strategic project with the Corporate Development team. In each assignment, I got opportunities to develop and to contribute beyond my expectations.

My professional highlight was my involvement in the One Region strategy for Latin America. It was challenging and rewarding and it is great to see the continuation of the project into implementation now.

My personal highlight was discovering that the Hilti Culture can be experienced across the world; I have met great people with passion for what we do and always enthusiastic to meeting you. The exposition I got to multiple functions, roles and cultures was utterly amazing.

Now I am in my landing position, coming from an emerging market, it was important for me to experience the dynamics of a mature market. Additional bonus is continuing the global experience of the trainee program and getting to enjoy a new working culture, new country and new language.

"Real projects with real impact"... to be honest, I was a little bit skeptical of how true that statement would be; As with everything else, Hilti delivered above and beyond my expectations.

Real projects with real impact

For the second project (i.e. 3rd rotation), I worked in the Latin America HUB. I had the opportunity to meet amazing people from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Panama and Venezuela and I collaborated with the functional leaders of all these countries to develop the new HUB structure for LATAM.

I was mainly located in Buenos Aires, working with Leonardo, the General Manager of Argentina and one of the best coaches I have had, but due to the nature of the project we were constantly visiting the other Markets and the Panama HUB.

This was a super challenging project that involved Marketing, Human Resources, Customer Services, After market services, Finance and Logistics and there are tons of experiences that were rewarding to me: working with the Regional Head, presenting and getting the approval from the Global Executive Board Member for the region, collaborating with all the leaders of the region and feeling that my work was contributing to define the path forward for LATAM, improving our strength to fulfill our global strategy and improving the life of Hilti employees.

Today, the structure that I helped to define continues to be roll out in LATAM. We now have a regional training center for our sales force, a regional customer service team for our customers and a regional marketing team that is bigger and stronger.

“Real projects with real impact”, as with everything else, Hilti delivered above and beyond my expectations.
