Continuing the global experience
I enjoyed the two years of the trainee program immensely; they were fulfilling and challenging in professional and personal levels. I did the Commercial track, I started on a sales team in Guadalajara, Mexico and experienced the life and challenges of sales functions and away from our regional offices.
Then, I worked on a tactical project for Mexico to set-up the process to coordinate all functional departments to provide special services (i.e. dedicated transport, mobile Hilti Stores, etc) to big customers or jobsites (e.g. power plants, offshore, etc). For the regional project, I worked on a strategic project to define central-regional services across for Marketing, Logistics, Aftermarket services and HR. Finally, for the international project I worked in the global HQ at Schaan for a strategic project with the Corporate Development team. In each assignment, I got opportunities to develop and to contribute beyond my expectations.
My professional highlight was my involvement in the One Region strategy for Latin America. It was challenging and rewarding and it is great to see the continuation of the project into implementation now.
My personal highlight was discovering that the Hilti Culture can be experienced across the world; I have met great people with passion for what we do and always enthusiastic to meeting you. The exposition I got to multiple functions, roles and cultures was utterly amazing.
Now I am in my landing position, coming from an emerging market, it was important for me to experience the dynamics of a mature market. Additional bonus is continuing the global experience of the trainee program and getting to enjoy a new working culture, new country and new language.
